Chris Tydeman - photographer
Chris Tydeman trained as a zoologist at London University, and then undertook research on the conservation of wetland birds. He gained a PhD also from London University, and then a postdoctoral research fellowship at Exeter University studying foxes.
He joined WWF UK in 1978 as Staff Biologist, where he stayed for 23 years, having been made Chief Scientist. He now works as a freelance consultant dealing with environment and sustainable development issues.
Always interested in photography, Chris took the opportunity, especially while travelling extensively, to create a large portfolio of photographs of both landscapes and wildlife, some of which have been used for exhibitions and to illustrate magazine articles, most notably a colour supplement in “The Observer” magazine in 19….
One aerial photograph of a Russian Orthodox Church next to a river and meadows was used as part of an exhibition in the British Embassy in Moscow to illustrate UK-Russian cooperation for the visit of the Queen.
Now a freelance consultant dealing with environment and sustainable development issues, Chris intends to spend more time creating and using images of subjects closer to home as well as cataloguing and digitising his earlier portfolio with a view to exhibiting and selling more of his work.
