Julie Perkins - Artist
Julie is a self-taught artist, working in a range of artistic styles.
She started her own business after taking her A levels, working from home making greetings cards and children’s gifts from colourful polymer clay. She then exhibited and sold these items at craft fairs throughout the South of England, but with an increasing amount of ‘bought-in-goods’ being sold there, Julie decided to concentrate on broadening her drawing and painting skills.
Inspired by her study of Cubism and love of painters such as Picasso and Braque, her colourful, fragmented paintings are a stark contrast to the softness of her coloured pencil animal portraits. Julie has exhibited in both Godalming, and at Cranleigh Arts Centre.
In 2002, Julie opened “Just for You”, a gift shop in Cranleigh where it is obvious as you browse, that she has developed her range even further.
Julie is known for her personalised greetings cards, new baby gifts and wedding stationery. She receives many commissions for animal portraits and has now also produced a range of beautiful bead jewellery.
